Soil replacement using the honeycomb method

In the small town of Velten just outside of Berlin, the Bauer Resources team carried out extensive soil remediation on the former plant of Polychemie Velten GmbH. What makes this project unique: The innovative honeycomb method inspired by nature enables large-scale, uniform replacement of roughly 2,200 m³ of contaminated soil. At the same time, the hexagonal cross-section of the honeycombs prevents any penetration of contaminants into the surrounding soil. Protecting people and the environment was the top priority here, which is why the excavated material was stored in gas and liquid-tight containers.
