Excavation pit on former Pelikan grounds in Hannover

Fountain pens, watercolor paint boxes and chemical ink erasers: For more than 80 years, Pelikan produced fountain pens and chemical ink erasers in Hannover’s List district. In October 2021, construction work started on the new residential quarter “ZWEI”, for which Bauer Resources prepared the complete excavation pit. Down to a depth of 11 m, more than 25,000 t of material was removed and disposed of. And that was not the only challenge the team overcame on site. During the entire project phase, they were moving on explosive terrain due to a number of suspected ordnance locations. This required extreme caution and a high degree of safety measures: a task for specialists like us.
